The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, helps eligible low-income households pay for energy services. Qualifying households receive monetary relief once per year to be used for energy bills. Eligibility is based on several factors including household size, location and income.
|
Beginning September 2, qualifying senior citizens (60 years or older), persons with disabilities, and those disconnected for nonpayment* can apply for LIHEAP funds for the 2008-2009 heating season. All other customers who meet the eligibility guidelines can apply starting November 1. The application period for LIHEAP funds will continue through April 30, 2009 or until funds are gone.
*Households disconnected for nonpayment should call 1-877-411-9276 to verify individual county start dates. |
Check our Income Guidelines listed below. Then, follow the steps to apply.
